The E-Mentorship Program matches HOPSANs with students of Holy Child School, Cape Coast, so the young women coming up behind us can plan their studies and careers alongside women already working in the fields they hope to enter. The 2026 drive keeps the program running for another year.
What the program does
Mentorship and sponsorship are key drivers of success. The program gives Holy Child students a career guidance resource: real women in their target fields who answer their questions and help them think about, and plan for, life after high school.
The aim is confident, college-bound, career-focused young women, ready to join the next generation of professional women.
How it works
- Matched by interest. Mentors and students are grouped by career interest, so each student hears from women on the path she is aiming for.
- Two hours a quarter. Sessions are virtual, about two hours once a quarter: four sessions and roughly eight hours a year, plus short check-ins in between.
- Real questions, direct answers. In each session mentors answer the students' questions and give thoughtful, thorough input. Between sessions, students send updates and mentors reply with direct, actionable feedback.
- From anywhere. Everything happens online, so a HOPSAN can mentor from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Where it started
The program launched in the summer of 2022 with second-year students. At the headmistress's request it has since grown to include the first years as well.
The 2026 drive
Members and friends of HOPSA USA-Canada began giving to the 2026 drive in July and August on the previous portal, and giving stays open here through December 31, 2026. Every gift supports this year's mentoring sessions for Holy Child students.
Become a mentor
Mentoring asks for about eight hours a year, so it fits a busy schedule. Sign in to the member portal, open Profile, and on the Mentorship tab choose Mentor as your role and pick the topics you're happy to talk about, then save. The committee matches mentors with students whose interests fit and gets in touch about the next session.
